Micro autobiography: I was born in the Netherlands in 1980. After high school I obtained a Masters degree in theoretical physics at the University of Amsterdam. In 2005 I switched fields to astronomy, but remained at the same university. Early 2010 I obtained a PhD degree in theoretical / computational astronomy. Between March 2010 and September 2013 I held a post-doc position at the Center for Cosmology and Particle Physics of New York University. Between September 2013 and September 2016, I worked as a post-doctoral research fellow at the Max-Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics in Garching, Germany. Since 2016, I am a lecturer in computational astrophysics at the University of Bath, UK. I am married and have two daughters and a son, born in 2009, 2011 and 2015 respectively.
